In October 2008 a 46-year-old Licheng man slashed his wife with a kitchen knife, leaving her with ten wounds about the head and body, as well as breaking her legs. The Licheng procurator stated to District Court that the man had confessed he'd suspected her to be adulterous, and accordingly intended to disfigure her. In February 2009 the court sentenced the assailant to 18 months in jail.[1]
